I ve not worked on garage doors before but i have a degree in computer electrical engineering.
Garage door chain stopped moving.
If your garage door is closing fully and then reversing to open again then it may be due to a problem with the close limit switch.
Press the remote or the wall mounted start switch listen to the motor and watch the movement of the chain.
Chain too tight if the chain was installed too tightly on the garage door opener it can make opening the door more difficult for the automatic opener.
In order to fix this you ll want to make small changes to the close limit setting until the door opener knows to stop once the door has reached the floor.
Troubleshooting your chain drive garage door opener is easily done by following a few steps.
2 if it is getting power then disconnect the door and then see if the chain will move.
3 if the chain still doesn t move check the force settings on the motor head.
In most cases the cause will be a stripped gear or a chain that has come off the sprocket.
This causes the motor to run for an extensive period of time before it seems to timeout and give up.
If the gear becomes too worn it will no longer be able to move the chain.
This excess tension causes the gear that moves the chain to grind down.
There s something wrong with the garage door opener that s stopping it from opening the door for you.
Turn them to clockwise to max and try again.
The chain and door connector assembly haven t budged since.
The door track rollers move each time you open or close the door leading to a lot of movement and causing wear.
Those are the two blue screws.
This wear could damage the roller surface causing them not to roll correctly.
If this is the case the motor will run but as the chain isn t where it should be it can t generate the lift to open the door.
Always look for loose hardware before you start checking out any other problems that might be associated with your chain drive garage door opener begin looking at the various nuts and bolts on the unit.
If the motor hums but the chain doesn t move that indicates a problem with the motor.
