As you can see from the photos here leaves pine needles and roof moss do not blow away with the wind as claimed by the manufacturer gutter stuff instead they compact into the foam filter and create a barrier preventing rainwater from entering the gutter instead it just overflows the front of the gutter.
The foam is very porous and so water soaks in and travels through the gutter unobstructed.

But even the best gutter filter foam inserts rarely last more than a year or two before their top surface is complete trash.
It also prevents mosquitoes from breeding in the gutter.
It gives us a good chuckle when we see a gutter filter with a 3 5 or 15 year warranty or something like that.
This is a very good solution for places where there isn t a lot of small especially granular debris though it will probably work well at the beach too.
